Overall, it was a pretty easy conversion-and have had no problems with mine once I got "real" gears in it, there was some problems with the 2500 stall and 2.73 gears on 28" tall tires while cruising at highway speed, giving me a noticeable lag in kickdown as well as eerie feeling doing 65 at 1400 RPM. The lockup switch for the brake pedal came from a early 90s camaro I believe. I also used a dfferent trans kickdown stud, and bracket (don't know # of bracket-buddy gave it to me). You get a new detent piece, and indicator among other things. I also use a staple (horseshoe) shifter, and used a shiftworks conversion kit. Using the truck one with an extension I got 2 places to bolt the mount, and was able to use existing holes for the trans crossmember. I took the extension with me.ī&M makes a kit for using in older cars. I originally had a s-10 one from about 86/87, but it we used that one for the core on the Sub. It has the mroe updatd parts from the factory, as well as a higher spline count. As mentioned 60deg V6 cases are both weaker internally and physically incompatible with a SBC. I think that 4.3 V6 trannies, (although using a V8 case which will bolt up to a SBC) contain V6 internals (less clutches, smaller turbine shaft, etc), if that is the case you should pass on it as a core. For some reason I thought Vettes also got a shorter output shaft but I guess not (I have an active and diseased imagination sometimes! ) This item: 700R4 4L60E Corvette Servo 27.13 Sonnax 4L60 4L60E 4L65-E & 4L70-E Pinless Accumulator Piston Kit 16.93 Sonnax 4L60-E 4L65-E 4L70-E Pinless Forward Accumulator Piston Kit 16. And as Tony said the hard parts are pretty much the same. Some late 4l60 Vette trannies got the "high energy" clutch material, I believe. Just does not even come with all the parts included in the picture the o-rings and snapping. Hot rodders put these features in anyways, everyone will use the "Vette" servo or equiv, most guys put in the full-throttle upshift TV sleeve, etc. 700R4/4L60E Piston & Cover Kit, 2nd Apply, Corvette Servo. Vette and hi-po Camaro have a few different hydraulic features than others also, nothing earth shattering. Other than that it is identical to a 2 wheel drive ver.Įvery model is calibrated a little differently, although almost everyone uses a reprogramming kit anyway so the point is moot. 4x4 has no extension housing (the transfer case in a 4x4 application bolts directly to the back half of the tranny case) and a shorter output shaft.
